  • Home Invasions on the Rise Everywhere

Here is a recent story of a home invasion in Glouchester Township New Jersey where people broke in looking for jewels and cash.  It make sense today to prepare for these incidents by installing a good home security system and surveillance system.  Here is the story:

GLOUCESTER TWP.,  N.J. - July 29, 2012 (WPVI) -- Gloucester Township Police say two armed men broke into a home and tied up the homeowner's wife.  It happened around 9:50 Saturday night on Jefferson Drive when officers responded to the report of an armed robbery.  Authorities say the homeowner arrived home to find his wife bound with zip ties and with a pillow case over her head.

The wife told police that she arrived home and as she walked into her bedroom, two armed men, wearing ski masks emerged.  The suspects allegedly demanded money and jewelry. When the victim told them she had none, one of the men reportedly told the other suspect to shoot her.

More on this story can be found at WPVI-TV 6 Philadelphia by following this link.

There are ways to prepare for home invasions with deadbolted doors, locked windows, heavy constructed doors, home alarm systems, auto dialing alarms, personal protection items.

  • Ever Hear of The Zombie Gun?

I am not too sure I would want to go this far and have a "Zombie Gun" for non-lethal protection.  I am more inclined to stick to pepper spray, tasers and stun guns.  Technology today is way beyond what it was when I was in the military.

From George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead"

Strange, alarming, morbidly intriguing — any or all of those would serve to describe the newly announced “Zombie Gun” that Russian president Vladimir Putin plans to use “for achieving political and strategic goals” (his words, as quoted from the UK Mail Online).

The concept is not new. For some time now military technologists have been working on weapons to incapacitate the enemy by attacking the central nervous system or damaging internal organs. Extremely high doses of microwaves could stop someone’s heart from beating or disintegrate his eyeballs, for example. Actually introducing such weapons to the combat zone–or perhaps against dissidents–well, that might be new (I stress, might). Lower dose microwave weapons have already been used in Russia for crowd control, and some claim they’ve also tried them out in other venues.  To see more of this story to the source by clicking here at Forbes.

Crowd control has always been a difficult thing to master.  Some police forces use constraint and others do not but the Zombie Gun, wow is all I can say.

  • The Stun Master 300-S Saves Sherry Tonight

Sherry's boss really cared about her, since she kept the night club running so smoothly.  She refused to let him pay for a car service so he gave her a Stun Master 300-S. She remembered how he asked her to hold it by the wrist strap when walking down the block, "just in case."  One Saturday night, Sherry couldn't wait to get home. It felt like she spent the whole night breaking up arguments and kicking drunken guys out of the club.  As she marched up the block to her car, two of those guys dropped out of the shadows.

"Hey, you!" called the tall one. Sherry knew from her years of experience not to bother responding.  "You think you're too good to serve us? You think you're too good to talk to us?" shouted his companion.  The tall one slid right in front of Sherry, blocking her path. She clutched her car's key fob in one hand while she dug her other hand into her satchel and wrapped it around the strap of her Stun Master.

"Where do you think you're going?" asked the tall one, while the other man just snickered. He lunged for Sherry's left hand, and she pressed the panic button on her car remote. Wailing horns pierced the silence of the back alley.  As her attacker gripped her left arm, she lunged at him with the Stun Master.  Even though he held on to Sherry, she couldn't feel any of the 300,000 volts flowing into his body.  As he fell, his other hand knocked the Stun Master away from Sherry.  It snapped free of the wrist strap and landed on top of him as he curled up on the ground.  The smaller attacker leaped at his buddy and grabbed the Stun Master.  "I'll show you!" he cried, as he pounced on Sherry. He dug the Stun Master into her abdomen and tried to activate it, not realizing that the wrist strap also serves as a disable pin - once the Stun Master left Sherry's hands, it was useless.  Sherry didn't get her job on looks alone.  She kicked her attacker in the shin and clocked him on the jaw as a pair of police officers raced to the scene of the struggle. She made a mental note to thank her boss for the gift - and to ask for a raise.

The Stun Master 300-s is available at SelfDefenseRocks.
